Aaaaaaahh I love VG

So many gated sounds! and it all just builds atop each other giving your songs so much swing and swagger. Lovin' the old skool power fills and bit sounds worked into your patented style. It's awesome to hear another vg song from you, this one is really well done. Another terrific submission, Can't wait to hear more.

NemesisTheory responds:

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you caught those 8bit power fills XD.

Thanks again for the kind words and support! <3

YES!

I'm making this my ringtone.

snayk responds:

Heheh sweet. I actually have it as mine :P

Nice Sounds

I don't get people like the one below, if you don't like the song, you don't have to take part in the song. They don't know anything about the track and genre anyway...I like the sounds you have here though, where did you get the drum samples from? Those hats and snares sound perfect, lots of high on the hat and the perfect amount of low-mids on one of the snares. The bass is big and spacey and the song definitely throws out a concord dawn vibe. The BR filter sounds awesome on the bass, it's almost like its talking to me. FX work and transitions were incredible and piano riffs sounded like they were made in the skies above. I still can't believe this is a 6 min track! Delay/re-verb come in at the right times and the ADSR on all your sounds seem flawless. This is a professional track if I ever heard one. What VST/Hardware do you use and what did you use to sequence this behemoth?

This is by far the best song that I have heard in 2010, and definitely among the upper echelon of Newgroungs. Well made and great melody and rhythm, highest ranks possible and a dl from me. It doesn't get better than this.

Thank you for your constructive criticism, mate!

The drum samples I note-by-note spliced together, from D'n'B sample software... that editing alone takes hours, which some people don't seem to realize. :P My main software is the FruityLoops 9 XXL Producer edition, with Edison recording, and WavePad Sound Editor. Some 'demo' synths were used in this, recorded in WP, then transferred back into FL as wav files...

Yeah, I wish people practiced that old adage, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it," but they obviously just push and shove their way through life, not restraining themselves or being "excellent to each other"... :P

Again, thank you for all your kind words, Marks... "By the by, "Ein", is friggin amazing! That chorus is Sublime! And your drums are badass :P My only tiny suggestion is maaaaybe add a snare roll-in to some drum parts, as a crescendo?? But I love how you filter-in the drums, that works too... :P

Alright, mate, peace!

Kick Ass

I was just wondering if the miute or so of silence was part of the track? a fucking awesome track I might add.

UnoCme responds:

Interesting Idea and Sounds

I like the idea you've come up with and you definitely have an interesting array of sounds playing in this piece. What VST/Synths did you use for the sounds? sounds like vangaurd. Let me know when you put up the next piece to the series please. Keep it up!

Death-9 responds:

A sytrus preset, a random PoiZone thing (I clicked randomize and tweaked the result), and an Alien303 which you can't really hear too well.

I'll keep you informed, dude.

Hoorah for FF's the games and boobies...

Great music in itself and well done on this rendition. Flow is awesome and the the instruments you choose fit perfectly. There is always so much emotion in Final Fantasy songs. Thanks for the post. 5'd and D'd.

djresset responds:

thanks

Beautiful

I love the EQ, so much high frequency sounds really creates a different listening experience. That combined with the LP fade ins really create something worth listening to. It's short but based on it's musical content this song goes on for miles. Excellent song, keep up the good work.

It loops perfectly too

ShootingStar responds:

Yeah :P haha I noticed that too!
Thanks for the review!!

I feel the bounce

This is a pretty good riff, it fits perfectly! I transitions were a little shaky and abrupt. I like the ideas on the transitions and ending but I think they could still be a little smoother. Loved the clap throughout the song, perfect amount of FX on that. Kick sounded good to. This needs more parts though, it's just one riff and it goes on for 2 min. If you added a stronger background melody with some nice pads you could have this kind of repetition but the pad was barely audible. I can bounce to this though and it is really easy to pik up on. Nice track and keep up the good work!

Thank you for the review. There are a lot of things I can feel I could do to this, but I really don't have the required equipment. Right now I am using Sony Acid Pro 6 becuase I can't afford to get FL or anything better. I will continue to work on my transitions, and I will hope to hear from your reviews later on. Peace.

Very Nice

I liked the flow and overall melody of this song. I don't think you have to use the sustain pedal so much though, especially at 3:50 or maybe a fade in sustain would make a more subtle transition. the release on your sustain sounds weird too. I loved the song itself though and really felt the emotion of the piece. Tell your grandma happy birthday.

this was a very nice song thanks for the submission.

megalolord responds:

Thank you very much!

I used the sustain pedail at 3:50 for a "fog of harmony style". I know the quality of the sound take isn't great, so with a better acoustic you could hear more the "release harmony of the sustain"

this was recorded a while ago on my acoustic piano

But thank you! glad you liked

I just tryed to use less sustain, and yes it works better. I could re-record it someday.

If you want the piano score, PM me (I will scan it)!

Well it's been a while...

This really reminds of A song from Jurassic Park on Snes, it was one of my favorite vg songs of the day and probably still is. With that being said I don't think it is possible for to not like the progressions and flow of the song. I was really diggin the song and then the horn hit me, at first it is kind of hard to grasp because it kind of overpowers the other elements of the song but after a while it settles in nicely. I probably would have gone a different route and used a basic sin wave and some re verb or something but that's just personal taste. I'm not really sure if there were any rules for this competition or what this was for or if you just wanted to stick with classical instruments but some electronic elements could have really expanded the track. One thing though that really made me happy is how your writing style has changed from the last time i heard your stuff. You always used to use a trill type note melody and I didn't hear it hear, it was like listening to a completely new artist. I'm on my friend's laptop right now so I don't have the best speakers but the drums sound well mixed and the strings flow nice, the only think that I didn't "agree" with was the horns, it's almost impossible to get a good sounding horn without live recording. Well done! I'll probably check out some more stuff later but it's good to see changes (or hear) I'll see you later.

FairSquare responds:

Thanks a bunch! :)

It's made with bits of REAL panther, so you know it's good...
