Hmm Not Too Bad

I lied your most recent song a little more but that feel is still there. i like your chippy sounds. I have a recommendation for you as well, on my page there is a link to a song called "I'm Yours" by a man named BroderKubric you should check that out. He has some sick riffs in that song and it is a bit chippy too. This song kind of reminds me of some arcade games like battle toads, damn, you got some sweet sounds in this song. keep up the good work!

Thanks for review!

Nice!

wow I love the progressions to this song! I find the production quality to be a just average but I am loving the ingenuity and original feel of this track. It's SOoooo VG, I can see this in a game for sure. That popping synth sounds awesome! and like I said before the progressions are awesome. I thought the transition around 1:31 was a little awkward but the song as a whole was pretty friggin sweet! now that I have reviewed this I can link back to you and listen to this bad ass submission when I get a chance. Imma go check out some of your other stuff and just to let you know, this song set the standard.

Thanks for such positive feedback!

You're right, production quality is average, that's something I've been needing to work on (but putting off) for three years now (which is when I started using FL Studio).

I agree that the one transition you referred to is a little awkward. I probably could have figured something else out if I wasn't as lazy.

Ahh...

Another listen today can't hurt my brain! It just keeps getting better and better, I can't give out any bad criticisms because I can't really think of any. So I'm just going to keep listening to this one.

zzzzzzzzzzzz...

yea, it's 4:30 in the morning and this song is definitely not helping me fight my drowsiness, which is a great thing. Wonderful minimal track you got here, I think some high frequency 'pluck' type synths with mega re verb and delay really quietly in the background would make this even more better. The high gate type thing the gives almost the same effect though. sounds really nice, chill. I could definitely see this as background music for a movie or tv show. I'm a big fan of your stuff, and you never let down. great job!

5/5 nap time...

Yes, a good song for sleeping to :)
hm, a plucky type synth would work good. This song could use something in the high range. I'll see what I can do with it.
Thanks for the review man :)

Here's What I Got...

Although I found the song's progressions and structure spot on I felt the the voice of that guitar to be quite off at times. Not to say it doesn't sound good...It just doesn't sound to realistic i guess is the term that I am looking for. but I really liked the guitar effect that you started up at around 1:40 or so. lol, that one kid said it was a saxophone. Don't listen to that kid either, you can make general rock songs. I think it is actually better to write in multiple genres, it gives you different perspectives and ways to write and approach your music. The drums sounded pretty good, I can't really get my opinion right now though because it is like 4:15 in the morning where I am and I don't want to turn up the volume, but I listened to this earlier. I think that this title definitely suits the music and style. I would almost post this in the video game genre. Hmmm, lets see how could we make that distorted guitar sound more realistic...what did you use first of all to write the guitar? If it was fl slayer you are going to have a tough time making a realistic guitar, not to say it can't be done be it would be very hard to get a good guitar sound in there. You are probably going to want to add a little more sustain and release to make it sound better and a cut for when you have the "chicki-chicki" palm mute things. A shit load of FX helps too, the acoustic guitar doesn't sound half bad though! Nice job with that. I can hear the bass fine, another thing that vishnunamboodiripad obviously can't hear correctly. damn! I don't know if there is a pad but some pads would add a lot to this song (my volume is to low to pick up the pads if there are any, sorry.) Well, you certainly have come a long way since the first time I reviewed one of your songs. I think that your sound production needs to get better for this genre, but both of us know that when it comes to classical you pretty much have everything in the bag. great job and keep up the good work!

FairSquare responds:

Well, i used Nexus for the guitar.
And i'm really happy that you liked the structure of the song, because that is what i'm trying to work on and chord progressions too.
Oh, and a question to you, why are you awake at 4:15 in the morning? :P
Thanks for the advices in this review and thanks for the review overall. I really appreciate it :-)

I want to wake to this, not Foldgers...

As I have said before this song could cheer up Hitler, well i didn't say that before but I'm saying it now. This drum progression is pretty spot on, the swagger/rhythm to the set is just off the charts. and the ride hits on 4 though simplistic add worlds to the song. The timbre on the strings are awesome, I could probably listen to just the sound of the strings for like 5 hours straight. I could imagine myself doing some art to this, in fact I am going to dl this and to some sketches tonight. Ahh, what is that chill lead I am picking up! lol sounds great in here, really does. i have listened to this like 5 times over and I will probably listen to this like 40 times again while I am doing some art. Some criticisms, uhm just give me a minute...I can't really give you any because I know what your style sounds like and this sounds pretty much perfected in your genre. Your skills are going through the roof! one more thing that I just thought of, this could be like an awesome mexican showdown chill dnb right before a duel or something or maybe after someone gets shot. I know it's lame but i am just letting my mind run free right now, that's just the effect this song has on me (just let everything go and keep moving forward, a sympathetic tone or almost like a forgiving one.) great feel to the song. Aight, that's it for me! Amazing song and keep up the good work.

Almost has a Dub'ish tone to it...

Wow, I'm glad you squeezed this piece out really good stuff you got here. I like the title and the sounds that you have going here are just plain awesome. I think some bit crushing and glitching on the vocals could really trip out the track. The drums are nice, and go very well with the song. I think the ending is a little abrupt, it just left me hanging. I am going to say it again the because I can't stress it enough. Those synths are pretty tight, they just flow together and makes one big pot luck of dub steppy/drum and bass goodness. I can't really think of anyhting that needs improvement, just some things that might make it better in my eyes. Maybe start with a higher frequency on the filter of your main synth then have it lower down and kind of verge into the synth (just a suggestion though, I think it fucking swivels like a chair already if you know what I mean.) Well, that about does it for me, great song, and I hope to hear more from you in the near future.

5/5, I'll be back ;|

Now this is awesome...

It kind of has like a dark Mexican feel to it, if there is such a 'feel.' the beat in this one is better then in the last song i heard by you. Epic riff on those strings, the lp filter on that drum break was amazing. I thought that the crash cymbals around 2:08 were a little lonely. The Rhodes type keys that you used I thought was one of the greatest additions to this piece. I think I like this one a little more then the happy happy upbeat song. I think you should add in another cello/contra bass to help out that one cello at parts. Not to much hear that I can pick up on that needs adjustments. That choir reminded me of "Legends of the Hidden Temple" i don't know why. Anyways, nice job and keep up the good work.

Ritheguardian responds:

thnx, yeah, I've been listening to it and i've been finding somethings myself that need lots of improvment, i agree, the clash symbols are lonely, but i can't quite figure our something to put with them.... and i figured a slight "cello duet" for the cello parts that are alone. Thnx for you advise :)

Not To Bad...

I really liked how this one started off, the Pizzicato type synth and the pad really mesh together. I guess the old title suits this too, definitely very happy and up beat'ish but then again kind of kiddie/j-poppy, no offense. Some work with the drums I think could really up this song, and maybe curbing the constant kick at parts and just adding a standard rock beat. I liked the progressions, I liked the synths, and I love the overall feel to the song. Great song, and I think that this could definitely get better.

Ritheguardian responds:

thanx. yeah.. i'm not that great with drums, trying to find a "colab" partner to give some of beats an UP

mmm...

most entertaining, I like the idm/glitch take on those old school type synths. This song is really getting somewhere, the changes and flow to the song are keeping me on my toes which is one of the many great things about this track so far. Hmmm, I don't know about that piano/key change (or pitch drop) it sounds a little to sloppy now. Either way though the drums are dishing out the hits one after another and the glitch rolls are awesome. I think the introduction was my favorite part, although I did enjoy the whole piece. But when the drums first dropped with the awesome old school lead....MAN! I couldn't stop smiling! Great stuff really, keep up the awesome work.

5/5,

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks a lot for the review. Its nice to see people take time out to review. I'm glad i could make you smile. This piece wasn't too serious. It was sort of a random thing and i should've worked on it a bit more - i was mainly working around glitching up syth melodies / re-arranging notes with cutting and whatnot.. When i re-listen to it there are a lot of things i realize i wanted to change, but never did. Some of the transitions, mainly. I'm not sure which piano change you are speaking of - let me know if you want through a message with the marked time or something. Thanks for listening, man.

It's made with bits of REAL panther, so you know it's good...
