lol...

This is pretty awesome! it's to bad you can't save it :( I don't think I am going to give a crazy review on this though. just know that I enjoyed it a lot. Now that I think about it this is actually really good taking into account what you had to work with. Keep it up.

Not Bad...

Well, it's not bad that's for sure. And their are definitely some very interesting things about this song. The lead that comes in around 1:50 over the sawtooth lead that you have as your rhythm is very nice. the filter was kind of cool too. progressions are well thought out and it sounds very complete.

One thing that I really listen for is the quality of the synth. Let me elaborate to because I have had someone take this the wrong way before. You can make a nice sound in pretty much everything you use, whether it be a vst, hardware, or w/e you are using. So take some extra time to really explore and learn how to make those sounds. anyways back to the review.

Some criticisms, I think that it is to loud toward the end. when you layer the same synth they tend to be very hard to comprehend. It wasn't to bad but I think that you can find a better way to mesh those two together. I heard some clippings in the beginning and that is something no one wants (just fix it with a compression or some mastering/level tweaks.) Drums were pretty good I thought. The crashes seemed a bit loud at parts but that isn't to major of a thing. One more thing too, I honestly think that the piano could have been better. If that piano sounded better that alone would have put the song into a whole other skill level (maybe some more brightness, treble, put some more re verb on it, take out some res, and hmmm maybe even try upping the pitch?)

This song again is not that bad, its actually pretty good. Just needs some fine tuning and some more originality to it. Sorry for the long criticism too. I always try to make the positive longer but it never ends up that way. Nice job and keep up the work both of you.

Thanks a lot for the criticism actually. I really appreciate how long you looked at this song to write an amazing review. Really appreciated. I will try to improve on some of those things for future songs, since I cannot really do anything to this song now (we have diff. versions of software). Thanks a lot for the review again, much appreciated :D

Oh my god :'(

So sad but so beautiful...I hate my brother too at times but songs like these make me want to forgive him. I am going to be harsh on you though because this song puts you in the top of wherever it is this puts you. great job! and a harsh one at that! have a good one and keep up the excellent music my friend.

my god that was amazing...

Ah!

What a tease, such a good song though. Definitely worth the download. I still think the qoute that was in this song a while ago was a good addition.

I think the main reason it was taken out was because it was from Star Trek and we didn't want to deal with the licensing issues. Although, if you put this song on loop and watch First Contact you'll have exactly the same experience!

Hmm...

Some elements of this track have a very nice feel to them and the progressions seem to really throw of a happy bright feel to them but you really need to work on you synth quality. No offense but all of this song sounded like sytrus presets. the acids, gold saw, and other various sytrus presets. You definitely have the feel though for this style . And you have the skills in composing, it's just how you get the song across that isn't right. Other than quality and level work this song was pretty good. Keep em' coming...

I think there may be one sytrus in there...the other two are ts404 and 3xOsc...but your point is not missed, I made the song in a hurry, and only laid a simple lowpass filter on each instrument to give it depth and feel, whereas I would normally give them a flanger or a phaser, reverb, perhaps an EQ...Do you have any suggestions as far as VSTs are concerned? I've been looking for some good free ones, and found the Tweakbench ones to be nice for an 8bit sound, though its not always what I'm looking for.

Nice...

I'm liking the drums a lot. And those are those excellent sounding samples too aren't they? well your drums sound very nice. the piano sounds a lot better too, did you just add re verb or did you find a complete new Vst? The strings are also a nice addition to this piece as well. I can't really find anything that could use some fixing in this song. congratulations!

Sorry to review it this late, I haven't been on NG in like 5 days or something. Nice song, I think it is your best song yet.

It isn't a problem that your review is late, because i was gone for a while too :P
Anyway, thanks for the review! I really appreciate it :-)

wow, nice job.

Your progressions and everything sound really nice. your compositions and structure are also spot on. The only thing that bothers me a bi is the midi sound to it. It sounds a little to...default if you will. but you have the important stuff down. Now just try to get some more interesting/realistic sounding instruments/vsts or whatever it is that you are using. Sorry to get to you so late but I haven't really been around to much lately.

Thanks so much for doing it though ^_^
I was using a keyboard with Sibelius 3 (score writing for the computer)
And really trying to get a beat into this but like epic fail on FL
I think I'm just gona beat box it lol, i have it up in my head

Ps we all have our day/weeks ¬_¬

Thanks again mate keep up the good work :)

Nice job

I think you need some better vst's or a better sound producer though. The melody and everything are great but I feel like I had to see past the cheap cover of this song. I don't judge a book by it's cover though so lucky for you. Honestly though this could be an amazing epic with the right software and samples. I sounds a little midi'ish too, I hope you didn't just rip a midi. It kind of has a Zelda feel to it. Maybe it's just me but that is what I am thinking of as I here this. Nice song though, keep it up.

Zero123Music responds:

Thankyou alot.
Well, I would never judge a song because of lack of good vst's
Because basically that is downrating a song because someone doesn't have enough money.
Though I might give Intero the CWP - and maybes he can put his amazing vst's on it :p

Rip a MIDI? I don't know what that is,
But I used East West Quantum Leap Silver XP and Garriton Pocket Orchestra
I think I have a bit of mastering and stuff to do xD

The melody and everything is completely original;
and I'm only 13 - so hopefully I have the time and can save up for better vst's

But thankyou alot for the review - it was very helpful
thanks for the 5 ;)

hmmm...

How long ago was this? It is a very strange song. Those violins come it at the weirdest times, I do like the bells however. Your hat work is another story. You definitely got some clipping here. I don't really know how to evaluate your music though because I'm not really sure what your capabilities are so let me hear a few more then I can really help you out. I liked the little piano trill in the intro too. Sorry I can't be a little more helpful at the moment but keep em' coming and I'll share my thoughts. 5'd, see you later.

SpamtheHobbit responds:

Thanks mate for just giving it a go lol. About 5 years ago, and i was really just trying to go mental at it, like hence the crazzy violins. Ya and i'll be chucking more of my stuff out. I just had to put this first to show where i started from ^_^
Thanks again for the review. Ps i'm egerly awating your recent colab's next instalment. Love the stuff so far, been voting. I Must review lol.

Great!

This one I think is your best one yet. As I said before I definitely think that classical is your genre. You definitely have the ear for classical type of progressions. The only thing that I could think of that could make this track even better would be to add more variety. But, it's about as good as it gets as is. Very nice job on this one.
Hope the competition goes well for you.

See you later,
Cj

FairSquare responds:

Thanks!

It's made with bits of REAL panther, so you know it's good...
